What we collect
Through our enquiry and contact forms, only what you type into them (the optional rider tools are covered under Rider tools below):
- Your name and phone number (required to reply).
- Your email address, if you provide it.
- Your message and any optional details you add — for example your motorcycle, riding experience, group size, organisation, or the kind of collaboration you have in mind.
- An anonymous spam-check answer, used once and discarded.
To keep the forms from being abused, our server briefly keeps automated anti-spam records — a rate-limit counter and a short activity log keyed to a one-way hash of your connection's IP address, not the address itself. These are rotated and deleted automatically.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where they are (city / country, derived from IP — Google does not share the IP address with us and does not store it), what device and browser they use, and which site or search brought them here. We use this only to improve the site. We have not enabled Google Ads, Google Signals or any advertising or cross-site profiling features.
Google processes this data as described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, by blocking analytics cookies in your browser, or by using a content blocker. Beyond Analytics we use no advertising, tracking pixels, social-media widgets or other third-party scripts.
Rider tools (planner cards, garage, roll-call, notifications)
Most rider tools — the planning cards on route pages, Where am I?, My garage, Split ride costs and the Altitude planner — run entirely on your phone. What you enter (document dates, bike details, expenses, altitude plans) and your GPS position stay in your browser's local storage and are never sent to us. Your position is used on your device to work out where you are on a route; it leaves your phone only if you choose to send it yourself, for example by WhatsApp.
Group roll-call does store data on our server, for five days: the ride name, first names, checkpoint names and the time each rider tapped each checkpoint. If a rider taps “I need help”, the location of that tap is stored and shown to the group. Anyone who has the ride code can see the ride. The ride is deleted automatically after five days, or immediately when the lead ends it; the random tokens that identify a phone on a ride are kept only as one-way hashes. A copy of a finished ride's summary may remain in the browser of anyone who made a recap.
Road-alert notifications are optional. If you switch them on for a route, our server stores your browser's push address (a long web address issued by your browser's push service), its encryption keys, the routes you follow and your language — no name, phone number or IP address — and uses them only to send you road alerts for those routes. Turn them off on the route page or on My garage and the record is deleted; addresses that a browser revokes are removed automatically.
How we use it
Your details are used only to reply to your enquiry and, if you are joining a ride, to add you to the relevant ride group. That is all. We do not send marketing or newsletters, and we never sell, rent or share your details with anyone else.
How your message reaches us
When you submit a form, our own server sends the message from our domain mailbox (admin@roarriders.in) to our own inbox (info@roarriders.in by default, or the matching rides / meetup / collaboration inbox). No third-party form service or email marketing platform is involved. If you gave an email address, replying to that message reaches you directly.
Cookies and local storage
Functional items this site sets itself:
roar-theme— remembers your light / dark choice.roar_lang— remembers whether you chose English or Hindi.roar_*local-storage items (for example your passport, shortlist, garage, cost split, altitude plan and roll-call rides) — kept only in your browser and erased when you clear its data.- A short-lived session cookie for the one-time spam check when you use a form.
- Your host's security system may set a
humans_…cookie the first time you submit a form, to confirm you are a real browser.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_<id>) to count returning visitors. They expire after up to two years and can be cleared or blocked at any time in your browser.
How long we keep things
Enquiry and RSVP emails are kept for as long as we reasonably need them to help you and to keep a record of the group's activity. Anti-spam records are automatically deleted within hours to days. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can raise a grievance about how we have handled it. Email info@roarriders.in and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are unsatisfied, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Ride membership is for adults who hold a valid driving licence. Where our education work benefits children, it is arranged through their schools or guardians; we do not collect children's personal data through this website.
Changes
If we change how we handle your details, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
Terms & riding disclaimer
By joining a ROAR ride or meet you agree to the following.
- You ride at your own risk. Motorcycling carries inherent risk. You are responsible for your own machine, its roadworthiness and insurance, your valid licence and documents, and your compliance with all traffic laws.
- Gear is mandatory. A certified helmet every time, with gloves and protective clothing strongly recommended. Riders who turn up without a helmet do not ride.
- Follow the briefing. Every ride starts with a briefing and runs with a lead and a sweep rider. You agree to ride within your ability, keep to the pace and formation, and follow the marshals' instructions.
- Limited liability. ROAR and its volunteers organise rides in good faith but are not liable for any accident, injury, loss or damage arising from your participation, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- The certificate is a token of participation in a ride and its nature action. It is not a licence, a qualification or proof of skill.
- Site content is provided in good faith and may change — ride dates, venues and details in particular. Links to WhatsApp, Instagram and other services are governed by those services' own terms.
