Delhi to Sohna's Hot Springs & Aravalli Backroads
Sohna sits in a gap in the Aravalli hills south of Gurugram, known locally for its old sulphur hot springs and, for riders, for the quiet backroads that thread through the ridge on either side of the town — a genuine half-day escape without leaving the NCR.

At a glance
- Round trip
- About 140–160 km
- Riding time
- 2.5–3 hours each way
- Nights
- Half a day; no overnight needed
- Start point
- Delhi (via Gurugram)
- Highest point
- About 350 m at the Sohna ridge — the lowest terrain in this library
- Difficulty
- Easy. Flat highway to Sohna, then gently rolling Aravalli backroads.
- Surface
- Good sealed road throughout
- Best season
- October to March. Summer here is genuinely hot with little shade; the monsoon greens the hills but the heat and humidity remain high.
The ride
Delhi → Gurugram → Sohna, a short, flat run to the edge of the Aravallis, then a loop through the ridge backroads either side of town — quiet single-lane roads through scrub forest that most Delhi riders never explore, despite being genuinely close.
The Sohna hot springs themselves are a small, old sulphur-spring complex in the town — modest, but a point of local history. The real draw for a riding group is the network of quiet Aravalli backroads around Sohna and toward Bhondsi, good for a relaxed loop with almost no traffic once clear of the highway.
Day by day
Delhi to Sohna and back
Delhi → Gurugram → Sohna (2.5–3 hours), a loop through the Aravalli backroads around the town, and back the same way. A single half-day out.
Fuel & services
- Fuel is easy the whole way — Gurugram and Sohna both have pumps, and this route never runs a genuine gap.
- No overnight stay needed for this loop.
Road & conditions
Sealed and flat to Sohna, with gently rolling, well-surfaced backroads through the Aravalli scrub beyond it. This is one of the easiest rides in the whole library — the main consideration is traffic on the Gurugram approach, not the road itself.
Bike, fuel & getting help
- Suggested bike
- Fine on any road-legal commuter.
- Fuel gap
- None. This route never runs a genuine gap.
- Spare fuel
- None needed for this route.
- Emergency & logistics
- The nearest well-equipped hospital is the district town, under an hour off on this close-in route; signal is reliable throughout; carry the group lead's number and an emergency card regardless.
Best time to ride
October to March is comfortable. Summer (April–June) is genuinely hot here with little shade on the backroads — ride early if you go in this window. The monsoon greens the Aravalli scrub nicely but combines heat with humidity.
What to add to your kit
Beyond the standard ride kit: nothing special. This is a short, easy loop.
Ride this with a group
We run Sohna as a beginner-friendly half-day loop — a good first ride with the group, close enough to Delhi for an easy morning out and back.
